Hi everyone! Things have seemed to have settled down this week, which was nice, and I’ve been feeling much better. Let’s jump right in!
First off, I completed my first two Wednesdays at kindergarten! It’s so much fun – from 8:30-12:00 I play with the kids and teach a 45-minute lesson to each 4-5 year old class. I’m sure it will be a little less fun once full summer hits, and the kids are wanting me to play tag in 90F weather…oompf. But the kids are sweethearts! They gave me this pinecone as a present.
My cats are still cute:
I miss taking the long route to 8sho through the wheat and rice fields…but there’s a lovely field out near 5sho I bike past twice a week!
My favourite garden in the neighbourhood is gorgeous right now:
We went an Indian restaurant in town and enjoy their giant naan:
We saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and had sushi and beer after. (It is weird watching English movies in Japan…there was only one joke the other people in the theatre laughed at. All the other jokes were just me and Paul laughing uproariously in an otherwise dead-silent room. I guess the jokes didn’t translate very well!)
I went to the Grove Cafe with some friends, and one of them got the cutest cup of coffee:
A PTA dad dropped off a bunch of herbs at Paul’s school. When Paul mentioned that we liked pakuchi (cilantro), Paul’s English teacher Mr. Handa raced to get all of cilantro, because apparently it tastes like soap to most Japanese people and they needed to get rid of it!
I’ve never been so happy…cilantro really brightens up our meals! (We also got some dill too!)
And last, today, my friend Katie noticed these magnificent notices posted in the ladies’ room at Guru Guru, the local game/anime/thrift shop:
Never have I been so entertained in a public bathroom!
Until next time! あたね！
