One of my new favourite Japanese treats is taiyaki!
One family runs the kakigori shop and the taiyaki stand, and they have a good business going – in the summer, they serve kakigori, the most perfect summer treat; and in the winter, they serve fresh hot taiyaki in the stand next door!
It’s basically a waffle shaped like a fish stuffed with some kind of delicious filling, most commonly azuki beans, other times chocolate or custard or savoury things like sausage.
My friend Katie and I decided to stop by the stand after watching a demonstration class this afternoon. Today was super cold, so the fresh hot taiyaki was absolutely perfect!
